Mini Interview with 82MAJOR
We connected with K-POP boy group, 82MAJOR, where they answered a couple of questions. The group held a media roundtable with various media present. Through this roundtable, 82MAJOR was asked, Who are artists that inspire you? Which artists would you like to collaborate with? Cho Seung Il was first to respond to this. He replies, “While performing on music shows, we met a member of ONF who was very kind to us”. Cho continued, “He encouraged us to address him as ‘hyung’, which boosted our confidence and helped ease our nerves.
Yoon Ye Chan also added to this question by replying in English. Yoon spoke on a personal level. He states, “personally I get a lot of inspiration from NCT and I really love their style and how they make their music; their creative process”. He pointed out that Taeyong of NCT was who really inspires him because he choreographs his own dances, raps and produces his own music. Yoon reveals that this is what he aspires to do. It didn’t end there, his praise for NCT continues with admiration for Mark. “When I came to the industry, I was 13 so when I saw them debut as well, I was like Oh, I want to become like HIM [Mark]. So they’re my inspirations,” Yoon says.
Adding to the second half of the question about collaborating, Yoon talks about wanting to collaborate with fellow rookies in the industry that rap. He says, “I just want us all in a room together and to rap together and make music together”. Yoon comments, “I just feel that would be sick”. He states that it would be like a music session or a writing camp.
Goals for the future
Our team, alongside other media representatives asked 82MAJOR what their goal for the future is. A few of the members took initiative in replying to this question. Hwang Sung Bin reveals, “With all six of us in a group, I want to leave a lasting impression that 82MAJOR is a cool group that others aspire to become”. Yoon chimes in with a long term goal, “I want to step away from receiving demos from other producers and possibly produce a full album ourselves – hopefully in the near future”. He also reveals that all the members can write songs, melodies and can topline. “We have 2 producers, a 3rd one on the way, hoping we can make an album soon,” he adds.
Meanwhile, Kim Do Gyun states, “we want to create music that is distinctly our own color and present it to the public”. “We’re still in the planning stages, but for 2024, we anticipate launching a new album and actively promoting it,” Cho reveals. Cho also adds that they are aiming to expand their audience, gain more fans who can offer their love and support for the group. He didn’t forget to mention, “we’re gearing up to deliver an even more engaging performance”!
To make it even more exciting, Kim says, “we [82MAJOR] will try to go see our international fans in person”!
Future Goals – Music
In terms of their music, the South Korean boy group wants to “create music that can provide comfort to many people,” says Hwang. Yoon wants 82MAJOR to show a more unique side of themselves. While the first two songs did show what the group is capable of doing, he revealed it didn’t show enough of how unique they can really be and what they could specialize in. “I really want to show people that as an artist,” Yoon reveals.
Park Seok Joon really aspires to, “create a song that can land on the Billboard chart someday” and this had Cho adding, “and I want to go to the Grammy Awards”.
The members of 82MAJOR have big dreams and goals which allows them to work hard together. We look forward to their continued journey and success.
