South Korea’s ballad kings, Vibe and 4Men, played Cupid this Valentine’s Day at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, California for their K-Soul Concert. Despite it being an event for couples (since it was on Valentine’s Day), when Shin Yong Jae asked who in the crowd were single, over a quarter of the audience raised their hands because who wants to miss the great ballad duos performing live for the first time in Los Angeles?
The concert started off with both duos collaborating and singing songs together before moving on to perform their own, which included 4Men’s “Reason” from the drama, Secret Garden original sound track. They then proceeded to show us a video of one member of each duo (Yoon Min Soo with Shin Yong Jae, as well as, Ryu Jae Hyun with Kim Won Joo) walking around the streets together to see who recognized them. Throughout that video, the audience learned that the first duo is better known to the utter misery of the second duo. However, this did result in a collaboration stage of Yoon Min Soo and Shin Yong Jae followed by a collaborative performance by Ryu Jae Hyun and Kim Won Joo.
Following this, the members of 4Men brought two couples on stage and announced that the females needed to give a lipstick kiss to her partner every time they said the word “baby” in their track “Baby Baby.” 4Men then put lipstick on each of the girls with Shin Yong Jae completely failing and making the audience laugh while Kim Won Joo did surprising well. Following the song, Vibe came out to help one of the couples propose which followed with a joint 4Men and Vibe performance of 4Men’s “Propose Song.” Of course, they didn’t disappoint the audience by making it more special with a Valentine’s present of giving people in the audience a shot of Soju just to hype up the crowd and to introduce the next song as Vibe’s “Alcohol Is (술이야)” which they sang as four members. The group of talented singers also surprised those that were present by switching from their native language Korean to other languages they’ve learned over the years like Japanese and English to further interact with the audience.
After performing “I Miss You So Much” and saying their farewells, the audience demanded an encore which the members of Vibe and 4Men both encouraged. They then came out to sing Vibe’s “Promise U” as the encore song that included member dance time as a final kick off before the concert was officially over. Obviously from the murmurs heard from the audience as we exited the concert venue, the only disappointment of the night was that the concert was over too soon!
