On February 13, 2014, an article titled “Classically Trained, Unlikely Rockers –Los Angeles-based ensemble Run River North is no K-Pop confection” surfaced the web through The Wall Street Journal’s official website.
Run River North, a Los Angeled based alternative folk-rock band – members Alex Hwang (Vocals/Acoustic Guitar), Daniel Chae (Electric Guitar/Violin), Jennifer Rim (Violin), Joseph Chun (Bass), John Chong (Drums), and Sally Kang (Vocals/Keys) – was featured on The Wall Street Journal’s official site.
It was stated that the members of Run River North “make music about the Korean immigrant experience.” All the members are Korean-American and therefore The Wall Street Journalist Miriam Jordan stated,
Run River North is no K-Pop confection—its music will never be confused with flamboyant Korean pop like Psy’s “Gangnam Style.”
