HYPNOTICASIA: Introduce yourself to the HypnoticAsia readers!
Hello HypnoticAsia! I’m an actress and singer based in Los Angeles, CA.
HYPNOTICASIA: Why did you decide to take part in the movie, “I Hate New Year’s”?
My manager sent me an audition for the movie. Right off the bat, I loved the scenes they sent and really felt like I understood the character and where she was coming from.
HYPNOTICASIA: What was it like working with Dia Frampton? Did you both know each other before meeting for the movie?
I loved working with Dia so much. I’ve only watched the first season of The Voice, so I definitely knew who she was and was a fan of hers but I didn’t know her personally before we started filming. She is so down to earth and kind, and such an incredible singer and wonderful scene partner. Working with her felt so easy and comfortable.
HYPNOTICASIA: You’ve portrayed many roles throughout your acting career. How is your character in this movie different from the rest?
I think the fact that she’s brave enough to be vulnerable for love sets her apart from other characters I’ve played. To tell someone you’ve known for so long that you’re in love with them, you’ve got to be pretty fearless.
HYPNOTICASIA: If you can give advice to an actress who is currently struggling, what would you tell them?
Read as many books as you can. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and lift you up, but also tell you the truth. Be patient. What seems like an overnight success is actually the culmination of years and years of hard work and being told no until finally someone says yes. Do theatre— it teaches you discipline. Remember that nothing is personal. Study. Take care of yourself first.
