Leo Xia returns with a new music video for his newest single, “Angels!”
We’ve been obsessed with his tracks “Sliced Fruit” and “Tether” which he performed on Music Is My Therapy not long ago! Now, he returns with “Angels” and we can’t lie, we’ve had it on repeat since it’s release 6 days ago.
The song is said to be, “a letter of gratitude to his ancestors and loved ones.” The track is an acknowledgement to all the people in his life that have loved him unconditionally, even through his darkest moments.
Xia wrote this song when a friend’s family member passed away unexpectedly. Xia describes seeing his friend in pain, unable to grieve, “[t]hat was the same pain I felt when my own grandmother passed away,” Xia remembered. “I didn’t know how to let myself feel the grief of losing someone who had loved me like she did.”
He also reveals, “I was inspired by my friend’s deep love for this person and wrote this song as a reminder to him, and to myself, that our angels are always watching and guiding us even when we can’t see them. “
The song was written as a healing anthem for both Xia’s listeners and himself.
Directed by USC alumna Tiffany Stevens, the music video takes place on a set of railroad tracks alluding to the sacrifices of Xia’s ancestors. Production by Kairos Music Group.
