[K-SHOWCASE REVIEW] A Special Milky Way Showcase in LA

On November 10, 2013, six member South Korean boy group, VIXX, of Jellyfish Entertainment held their very first global showcase in the United States.  After forming in 2012, the group has already performed in Los Angeles twice, once at KCON 2012 and the next for their first showcase “The Milky Way” showing their true popularity around the world.

VIXX held their Los Angeles showcase at Club Nokia at LA Live on November 10, 2013 where they performed and talked with their fans that have waited all day to see them.  Some ST★RLIGHT’s camped out all night to ensure their spot in line as well as at the concert. Their dedicated fans weren’t disappointed though, as the boys held great group stages as well as solo stages.

The songs performed included their hit’s “Superhero,” “Rock Ur Body,” “Hyde,” “On and On” and many more. They also performed their song “Starlight” for their fans at the event.

Each member had something special to give to their fans, as Leo, the birthday boy ran off to get ready for his special solo stage “Can’t Be Friends” by Trey Songz. The boys mentioned how they went shopping the famous Beverly Center in Los Angeles and ran into Leo’s idol, Trey Songz. They reenacted the moment and even spazzed a little themselves.  The singer, Trey Songz instagrammed a photo with both members N and Leo the night before, causing Leo to have an even better birthday than planned.

After Leo finished his solo, Ravi performed a new song of his own and hyped up the crowd with his fun performance. Following Ravi, were the youngest members, Hongbin and Hyuk as they had a special performance with a fan on stage.

Ken was next to take over the stage with his solo performance of “Turn Up The Music” by Chris Brown. Ken remembered to keep his cute image during his stage with his little dances. Lastly, Leader N took over the stage with his own solo, the Blindfold Dance, which had the fans screaming with his amazing dance performance.

The audience sang happy birthday during their talk and questions with the fans. While N performed a little of SunMi’s dance, they gradually tried to make shy member Leo do the same. Eventually he did, with the members all laughing in the end.  The six members also showed off their English and tried communicating with the fans. You can tell they practiced their English for this tour.

The group ended the night with their song “G.R.8.U” but before they could, the members prepared a special birthday surprise for Leo. A video came up on the back screen, with a message from his parents and sister, showing their love and support for Leo. The other instantly became emotional as he saw his family on screen and N explained that he contacted them just for this. He went on to show his great friendship with Leo by giving him a special birthday hug.

When asked at the press conference by MC ShinB which concept they enjoyed most –the cute style or the dark style- VIXX’s leader N revealed “we do well in both but we like the dark because it shows off our sexy and manly charms.” Indeed it does, as the boys once again chose the dark concept for their upcoming return.

Meanwhile, VIXX recently released their pre-release song “Only U” and are making their comeback with their 1^st full length album “VooDoo” this November.
