On July 12 and 13th, Lost Dreams 2024 turned Los Angeles State Historic Park into the most electrifying venue for music, art, and food. With its green spaces and city views, one would have to do a lot of searching to find a better setup for the festival’s two stages: Lucid and Lost, with their own vibes and world-class sound and visuals that left all jaws on the floor.
This year’s lineup was amazing, with several Asian artists carrying unforgettable styles and unbelievably good energy. It also hosted legends from the EDM scene such as Madeon, Seven Lions, and Adventure Club. Behind the Lost Stage was a wide variety of Asian street food, curated by 626 Night Market. Attendees also had the option to get food from various food trucks around the venue.
Lost in Dreams Day One: JVNA/CHYL, Starsigns, Dab The Sky
Day one was opened by a back-to-back set from JVNA and CHYL, which was full of energy. The dreamy future bass of JVNA combines with ethereal vocals to create a perfect combination. CHYL brings energetic beats that blend well together. There was everything to keep the audience on their toes: dubstep, future bass, and an electrifying speedhouse sound by CHYL.
Starsigns consisted of Manila Killa, Yetep, and Myrne, all combining their energies for the first time. These boys killed it, combining their styles into one epic performance. The crowd was in a frenzy over the visuals and how they seamlessly transitioned from dreamy tunes into high-energy drops. When they played their new song, Leo (Flicker), they kept them at an all-time high, so it was evident everybody was feeling it. You could feel the chemistry between Manila Killa, Yetep, and Myrne in making their debut as Starsigns; this was honestly one of the top moments of the festival. They will be on tour soon!
Running back-to-back with Said The Sky, Dabin‘s performance proved to be a masterclass in melodic dubstep and future bass. His ability to weave in, out, and between arrays of tracks that were both emotive and had elements of live guitar made for a moving experience. Songs such as “Alive” and “Bloom” swayed the crowd. On the other hand, his guitar solos added that factor of personal flair that made his performance memorable. Of course, the energy between Dab The Sky—what they call themselves combined—was infectious, as one would think with how people in the crowd were seen wearing their collaborative jersey. This set was a good way to end the night because of Dabin’s clear connection with the crowd.
Day Two: Sabai & ARMNHMR
On the second day, Sabai started his set off like a roller-coaster ride. He had the crowd feeling all sorts of emotions, which varied from his leading melodic bass into some unexpected, hard-hitting dubstep drops that had everyone off their feet. Bringing out Elephante and Ridgely to perform their popular song “Say It Like You Mean It” was one of the highlights of his performance; the crowd went wild! Additionally, he added live guitar riffs to a few of his songs, which elevated the performance till the very end.
ARMNHMR at Lost in Dreams 2024 was a masterful mix between melodic bass and dubstep, moving the crowd to its pulse. Seamlessly fusing emotional melodic tracks with heavy-hitting dubstep drops created a dynamic and electrifying experience. What really kept everybody on their toes, locked, and fully engaged was the snap from one style to another. This duo is no stranger to a large crowd, breaking records as the first Asian American electronic duo to hold a major club residency on the Las Vegas Strip, and this set proved exactly why they’re making waves in the scene.
Lost In Dreams 2024 at Los Angeles State Historic Park showcased a wide variety of melodic music producers, leaving LA concertgoers waiting for Insomniac’s next festival, Hard Summer.
