2023 Has already seen a ton of announcements for concerts and world tours happening, and it’s only January! One of the artists that announced their tour was none other than pH-1. The tour was announced with the title of “About Damn Time” and all shows sold out instantly. The Los Angeles stop was held in Hollywood at The Fonda Theater on January 25, 2023. For those who attended Head in the Clouds LA 2022, he made a brief appearance during Jay Park’s set.
Opening Act: Ted Park
Upon entering the venue, the crowd was welcomed by the inside of the gorgeous historic venue (originally built in the 1920s). The open floor and wide stage is something the audience has always loved in this venue and tonight was no different. As the curtains went up, the concert started off with local opening act Ted Park and his guest DJ Cha Cha Malone. Neither of these artists are strangers to this audience. Ted Park performed some of his well known songs such as “Adore You, Dior You” and “Dance Like Jay Park”. He even admitted during his set that he was drunk which caused the audience to laugh along and enjoy the opening.
Main Act: pH-1
As soon as Ted Park walked off stage, the crowd started yelling out “HARRY HARRY”. For those who don’t know, pH-1 lived in New York for about 15 years and was also known as Harry Park. Soon after, the DJ’s swapped and DJ Spray appeared on stage to the cheers of the crowd. They knew who was coming on soon.
pH-1 ran onto the stage and opened up the concert with “Meet N Greet” and “Malibu”. This caused the volume in the room to quadruple how loud it was previously. He took a quick break to introduce himself and to let everyone know the fanchant for the night. If he says “Its about” the crowd needs to say “damn time”. He mentioned that even though LA was just getting started, they were already louder than the first stop.
Getting back to the concert, he performed some of his hit songs “Zombies”, “Tipsy”, Yuppie Ting” and more. For one of his sets, he asked if anyone was in a relationship or single. Majority of the screams came from those who are single so he said that they should think of the next few songs to be for them.
Surprise Guest: Umi
The artist went on to then perform “Cupid”, “365 & 7”, and “Juliette”. Before the concert, pH-1 posted on Instagram that LA was getting a special guest. While fans waited outside, they kept speculating about who it could be. During the performance of “Juliette”, the mystery was solved. None other than the original feature, Umi, appeared on stage. pH-1 introduced her as someone he was glad to have been able to work with. Umi had her own set where she performed a few of her songs.
pH-1: Switching It Up
pH-1 came back on stage but slowed it down by performing “Break the Glass”. This caused fans to feel emotional all around us. They were surely in their feels. He sped it up again during “Nerdy Love” and even gave a shout-out to one of the guys he noticed in the crowd dancing to it.
It was time for a new set! This time, a medley of his songs “Olaf”, “Achoo”, “Orange” and more. Of course, a hip-hop show isn’t complete without a splash zone. As expected during “Telefono” and more, water was sprayed across the crowd. The artist stopped and mentioned that he normally doesn’t boast about himself (which fans agreed); but still pointed out that he sold out majority of his tour and that LA was sold out.
He ended the concert with hit songs “Iffy” and “Oscar” which caused the volume to go even higher in the venue. Even though that was the end of the concert but he said he’ll definitely be back again. His tour is not over just yet so be sure to check him out if he’s coming to a city near you.
