Colde, a South Korean singer-songwriter and one half of the duo offonoff, is on his first North American tour, titled BLUEPRINT. Colde is accompanied by Jiwoo and basecamp who arrived in Toronto for the second night of tour on August 20th at HISTORY.
Opening Act: Jiwoo
As the lights dimmed and the stage was set, Jiwoo began a night to remember for everyone in attendance. Initially appearing quiet in nature, Jiwoo transformed when performing, delivering ethereal vocals with “Lustre,” and “Inner Eden.” Before his next song, Jiwoo announced he will be playing songs from his debut album, Maison, which prompted enthusiastic cheers throughout the venue. As Jiwoo continued with “Greed” and “Comme des Garçons” he captivated the audience’s attention in creating an immersive atmosphere. Jiwoo asked the crowd to cheer as loudly as they could for Colde before ending his set with “Afterimage.”
Main Act: Colde
The stage lights softened once more and Colde swiftly took the stage. The artist launched into a fiery burst of energy to perform one of his latest singles, “Toxic Love” and seamlessly transitioned into the next song, “Heartbreak Club.” His presence and liveliness set the tone for an unforgettable performance.
After finishing up his vibrant performance of “YAYAYA,” Colde took a moment to reflect on the early memories. He reminisced about the time he signed Jiwoo to his label, Wavy, noting the significance of this moment, especially as Jiwoo is from Toronto. He expressed gratitude for the support from his fans, which have allowed him to travel the globe and perform for audiences worldwide.
basecamp
Colde moved on to perform “Poem (Shhh)” and “Light,” during which fans eagerly joined in, waving their hands back and forth in sync. Later, Colde introduced basecamp, the duo under Wavy, who accompanied him on stage for the night with their live instruments. basecamp played their very own tracks such as “Okay,” “Sun and Life,” and “Elephant man.” Their melodic music fit in beautifully with the overall atmosphere for the night, enhancing the experience for everyone.
Final Act
Colde returned back to stage in a new look, wearing a Toronto Raptors jersey, sunglasses and a white beanie. He asked the crowd if they enjoyed his latest single release, “Nirvana Blues.” Cheers from the audience made Colde thrilled, who then delved into the creation of the song. Colde revealed his admiration for the band Nirvana, explaining how their music has consistently fueled his own creativity. He described “Nirvana Blues” being especially infectious, capturing that sense of inspiration.
Colde maintained the audience’s energy with his iconic R&B tracks, “I Fxxxing Love You” and “Sunflower.” Colde then took off his jersey to reveal a T-shirt that read “Why Is Toronto So Colde?” before diving into “Control me,” and “I Color You.”
The last song of the night was offonoff’s “Dance,” a laid-back track that perfectly wrapped up the night. The crowd joined in, singing along with him, further creating an atmosphere that ended the show on a high note.
Before officially wrapping up the show, he headbanged and ran around the stage to Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” He continued to energize the crowd and playfully sprayed water onto fans. The dynamic finale guaranteed everyone in the audience would leave with unforgettable memories of the night.
