“Little Secret” is the second single of The Great Wave artist collective DAO, and features a collaboration between two fiercely independent singer-songwriter-producers Yeo (Melbourne, Australia) and Kitty Purrnaz (Singapore). The single has just been released as of September 9th.
Poised to grab your attention from the get-go, the track opens strongly with throwback electric guitar riffs blended with modern drum production as the bedrock for Kitty’s signature soulful vocals, immediately painting an emotive narrative of longing and the anxieties that manifest from not having sufficient assurance in a relationship. The introduction of Yeo’s sombre baritone brings the song to another level of darkened intensity, simmering and then climaxing in a duet of intricate harmonies over the catchy chorus refrain.
The 90s pop music fan in me rejoiced when Naz played me the demo. It took me back to my childhood but also sounded fresh at the same time. It’s nice to collaborate with another artist-producer, and it really felt like we were on the same page.
Yeo
When Yeo and I first came together, we didn’t have any particular initial genre that we were after. We loaded up an ableton project on my MacBook with a gritty bassline and a simple chord progression. The project was left on the burner until our introduction to The Great Wave. The collective brought us back together, and inspired us to complete what was once an unfinished track. Sometimes all you need is that extra push and that was what we needed.
Kitty
The new single is the part of a proof-of-concept mix-tape by The Great Wave, where the work is collectively owned by the DAO community. Both Yeo and Kitty Purrnaz will be featured as part of Charlie Lim & The Great Wave’s first concert in Singapore at The Esplanade Concert Hall on the 16th of September. Tickets are now available on SISTIC, or mintable as part of a governance NFT membership.
About Yeo
Australian-Malaysian musician and producer Yeo continually explores the intersections of R&B, pop and electronic music with the use of innovative instrumental arrangement, wry lyricism and a truly unique genre-bending sonic palette.
Yeo’s body of work extends over a decade of releases, spanning many relatable themes—the complexities of human relationships, the impact of racial injustice, and the nature of conflict.
These themes are prevalent in Yeo’s R&B-infused pop albums Recovery Channel (2019) and Desire Path (2017) which included many collaborations such as songs with Asta and Fractures. There are also a host of stand-alone singles including 好好 的過 (Have A Nice Life, 2020) a collaboration with Taiwanese artist Chendy Wen.
Alongside his solo project, Yeo has upheld many roles including music director and band member to Emma Louise, band member for Mo’Ju and Alice Ivy, producer and co-writer on Asta’s EP Shine and co-producer on Charlie Lim’s EP CHECK-HOOK.
Yeo has completed countless tours in Australia and has also performed in Ecuador, Iceland and Singapore. He has supported the likes of HÆLOS (UK), Giraffage (US), Kimbra (NZ) and Peking Duk (AU).

About Kitty Purrnaz
Kitty Purrnaz is an independent musical artist born and raised in sunny Singapore. Coined as a shy “bedroom chanteuse” amongst her followers, the autodidact music producer and singer/songwriter was first put on radar for her Sound cloud demos and quirky music cover(s) in 2019.
Following her addition into the Noise Music Mentor ship 2019 roster as an apprentice, in collaboration with mentors, Evan Low of Evanturetime and Imran Ajmain; Kitty went on to release her debut single “cry” (2020) and has accumulated over 1,000,000 streams on Spotify to this day.
Inspired by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Melanie Martinez, Charlie Puth and Julia Michaels, Kitty is a lover of nostalgia and modernity; poetry and wordplays. Quintessences that remain true to her musical identity.
The Great Wave
The Great Wave is an artist collective Dao which aims to provide a platform that helps to fund artists’ projects, incentivise collaboration, and build a more flexible, sustainable and transparent model for the music industry. As the world sits on the cusp of a new technological renaissance and creator/investor economy known as Web3, we want to help position artists ride the great wave over this rising tide.
