[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] Verseatile: 7 Years Later!

7 Years ago, we interviewed hip-hop artist, Verseatile who moved from Chicago to LA to pursue his passion in music. Now, 7 years later, we reconnect with the artist to see what he’s been up to!

Verseartile also released the song “Break the Cycle” not long ago which was featured on our music series, Music Is My Therapy.

HYPNOTICASIA: It has been 7 years since the release of your album, “Good Mourning” and our last interview with you. What have you been up to?

VERSEATILE: I have moved a couple of times (within SoCal), worked in a couple of different fields, and gone through a couple of relationships haha. Oh yeah, I released a couple of projects as well. 😉

HYPNOTICASIA: You have recently released your track, “Break the Cycle,” which is also featured on our mini music series, Music Is My Therapy! Tell us more about this track and the process in creating it.

VERSEATILE: The song is about me always finding myself in the same or familiar situation in cycles, and wanting to break out of it. Especially because those situations were unhealthy and taking a toll on my soul. I realized that I couldn’t “fix” myself on my own, and it just gave me a greater realization of how much I needed God in my life.

HYPNOTICASIA: During our first interview with you in 2013, you said, “self-awareness is so important” when giving advice to an up and coming artist. Would this still be your answer today? If not, what advice would you give instead?

VERSEATILE: I would still stand by that answer 100% – but I would also now add to seek help or accountability if you need it – there’s no shame in asking for help, and necessary more times than not.

HYPNOTICASIA: Would you say your music, or your view of music has changed in the last 7 years?

VERSEATILE: I think the messaging of my music is still the same, but I’m definitely more comfortable in the sound I have now. I do believe I grew as an artist and my sound now is more polished than ever before, but you’ll always be able to tell it’s me.

HYPNOTICASIA: Can we expect more music from you soon?

VERSEATILE: Absolutely – been itching to get some new music out to the world. I’ve already finished a short EP I’ll be releasing soon titled “Under Construction” and another one in the works tentatively called “Stranger Times”. Hoping you guys will continue to journey with me! Much love.
