KCON, the largest fan convention in North America dedicated to all aspects of Korean entertainment and beyond was just named by FUSE as one of the “22 Best Music Festivals of 2015” and will be expanding this year in Los Angeles from two to three days of convention to take place on July 31 — August 2. Two of those days will consist of giant concerts at the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles. In past years, the KCON stage has been graced by big-name artists such as G-Dragon, Missy Elliott, Girls Generation, EXO, BTS and so many more. Having grown every year in star power and attendance since its launch in 2012, KCON 2015 LA edition is set to be the biggest event yet. One week later on August 8, will bring KCON to the New York metro area for the first time and will feature Girls’ Generation.
KCON is produced by CJ E&M, Asia’s leading content company and its global music channel Mnet, giving fans the ultimate Hallyu (a.k.a. the Korean Wave) experience. Girls’ Generation is nine-member group, which debuted in 2007 with the self-titled album Girls’ Generation. Their first major hit was 2009 single “Gee”. Since then, Girls’ Generation has transformed their music from a sweet pop sound to a style that includes electro-pop, R&B, and multiple other genres. Their single, “The Boys,” was the first song recorded entirely in English and produced by Michael Jackson’s famed producer, Teddy Riley.
The group is truly a powerhouse in their native country and abroad. In Korea, they topped Forbes’ Korea Power Celebrity 40 in 2010, 2011, and 2013. In addition, they were named the Best Female Group at the MNET Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in 2011 and 2013. Their international acclaim reached a peak when “I Got a Boy,” from the album I Got a Boy (2013), won YouTube’s Video of the Year. Their most recent release, “Catch Me If You Can,” debuted simultaneously in both Korea and Japan becoming one of the highest selling singles in both nations. Their international recognition and acclaim has made them instrumental in the spread of Hallyu across the globe.

The next artist on the line-up is the talented boy group VIXX! KCON states, “VIXX is a six member K-Pop idol group who were brought together by Mnet’s reality show, MyDOL. What sets them apart is that they were not just chosen by industry professionals, but by viewers through an intense elimination system. In 2012, VIXX debuted with “Super Hero” on M COUNTDOWN and rocked their first overseas performances at Otakon 2012 and KCON 2012. Beyond concerts, VIXX reached top of the major music charts in Korea with their singles “Rock Ur Body,” “On and On,” “G.R.8.U,” and “Voodoo Doll.” VIXX now returns to KCON with their newest hit single “Love Equation”!”
