He unleashed his track “I Feel So Lucky” which is a track in all English and it featured K-POP boy group, A.C.E who sang the full track in English and did an amazing job for not really knowing English. They have a great choreography to go with it and the awesome music video has been officially released garnering the interest of not only fans but the media, as well. [Keep in mind, “I Feel So Lucky” was reuploaded after garnering over a million views having lost it’s previous view count].
A.C.E. performed this track throughout their tour and many fans have been introduced to Hcue through it. His precious track with Kida “Don’t Say No More” has over 4 million views and is one of his most popular tracks.
HYPNOTICASIA: Please introduce yourself to the readers of HypnoticAsia!
HCUE: Hi everybody, my stage name is Hcue! I’m a french DJ, record producer of the French label wati b. I was the DJ of the hip-hop group sexion d’assaut. from 2009 to 2013. I assisted in the production of the hip-hop albums: l’école des points vitaux and l’apogée by sexion d’assaut, LYPGQLM and l’éternel insatisfait by Black M.
HYPNOTICASIA: How did you get started in the music industry?
HCUE: I started developing an interest in rap and soul music at a young age thanks to my dad (r.i.p) who listened to black music everyday.
HYPNOTICASIA: Who or what has been your biggest inspiration or influence in music?
HCUE: My biggest inspiration comes thru my origins which are from the West Indies and that’s the reason why my music is a mix between different influences.
HYPNOTICASIA: How would you describe your music to those who haven’t heard it before?
HCUE: I think it’s hard to classify my musical style into a specific genre.
HYPNOTICASIA: Why did you decide to feature A.C.E on your track titled, “I Feel So Lucky”?
HCUE: So, from my aspirations, I wanted to bring a quirky mixture that’s why I looked for a K-pop group to sing on a moohnbatton style. Basically when I saw A.C.E’s MV[Music Video], I realized how upright they were and their voices sounded gorgeous.
HYPNOTICASIA: How was working with A.C.E different than working with Kida?
HCUE: I was flattered to be able to collaborate with A.C.E and Kida because they are two from really different cultures and needless to say, it gave me a new state of mind.
HYPNOTICASIA: Do you have any other K-POP projects lined up for the future? (Or others)
HCUE: I would be really interested in doing a K-pop project again.
HYPNOTICASIA: If you could pick one artist to work with that you haven’t already, who would it be and why?
HCUE: I have a pipe dream to work with Chris Martin (lol) because Coldplay inspire me a lot but Major Lazer and Maroon 5, too.
HYPNOTICASIA: What are some equipment/instruments you use when producing tracks?
HCUE: I produce tracks on ableton live with my push 2 and an Akaï mpk49 keyboard with a motu track 16 audio interface but maybe that sounds a little complicated (lol).
HYPNOTICASIA: Approximately how long does it take for you to complete one song?
HCUE: It takes for me approximately between 1 and 5 hours to complete a song. It depends on my inspirations.
HYPNOTICASIA: If you weren’t doing music, what do you think you’d be doing instead?
HCUE: If I wasn’t doing music, I’d like to be an actor instead because I think I have five different characters in my brain, at least (lol).
HYPNOTICASIA: If you could give advice to an up and coming producer, what would it be?
HCUE: If I can give advice to an up and coming producer, it would be to have humility, a lot of perseverance, and some patience.
HYPNOTICASIA: What types of songs are on your playlist right now?
HCUE: I’m listening to Clean bandit and Belly’s albums right now, that sounds huge…
HYPNOTICASIA: Is there a motto or saying you live by?
HCUE: My favorite motto is “I ain’t got time, I would sleep in my casket” (lmao).
