Fans were excited after I.M.’s solo performance at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on August 31st, 2024. With the stage lights going down, the band entered and established the tone with an intense instrumental opening that flowed into “Burn,” energizing the crowd right away. As they played “More” and “NBDY,” the anticipation for I.M. of Monsta X‘s big arrival grew. The electricity in the room was intense.
The audience exploded in applause when I.M finally introduced himself. He smiled enthusiastically to everyone and expressed how much he missed his fans in Los Angeles. He was clearly in tune with the crowd because he immediately broke into “Overdrive” and the intense track “Bust It.” His unquestionable charm controlled the stage with ease.
I.M. took a quick pause after “Bust It,” letting the band show off their skills in a solo jam session. The crowd enjoyed the display of pure musical skill, and the group’ chemistry was clear.
I.M came back on stage for a more personal performance, opening with “XO.” He took a seat, letting the audience experience the song’s emotional impact. The seamless flow of the Korean lyrics produced a laid-back ambiance. He exclaimed “how cute” the audience was during “Slowly,” which caused everyone present to smile and giggle. After that, the moment he removed his jacket to enter “NVRMND,” had the fans ecstatic. The song “Flower-ed,” which he sang while using a microphone stand to give a dramatic touch before leaving the stage once again, changed the atmosphere.
Act 2
There was a VCR pause after that, which concluded with the fascinating line, “I’m addicted to your scent,” which introduced I.M.’s second act. When he reappeared, he looked dashing in a suit and wore spectacles while performing “Lure.” “Not Sorry” and “Habit” kept the momentum going, and he even playfully asking the crowd which song from the previous set was their favorite.
During “Blame,” I.M took off his jacket as the evening wore on, indicating an informal attitude for “Loop.” He asked everyone to “just feel the vibes,” and the crowd complied with joy. “God Damn” was the ideal sequel, with its sultry undertones and silky beat.
I.M departed the stage once again, allowing the band to have one more opportunity to shine. He reappeared wearing casual attire, which gave the last set a more carefree vibe. Highlights were “Howlin'” and “Skyline,” where I.M. asked fans if they liked his dancing for “Skyline” and mentioned how these songs had a distinct atmosphere. Although he gave hints that the show was almost over, he promised that the last song will be particularly memorable.
I.M taught the audience the fan chant for “MMI” which stands for Me Myself and I, before calling the concert to a close. The audience was spot on, and when I.M. splashed water into the crowd and got himself soaked in the process, it added an extra special touch to the occasion. Even after he left the stage, the fans’ anticipation for the encore lingered in the air.
Encore
“Happy to Die” opened the encore. Donning a merch shirt, I.M. joked with the audience, “I’m happy, but I’m not going to die,” after introducing the song. Though he was a little embarrassed, he nonetheless took a photo with the fans while waving a banner that included a shirtless photo of himself. “Dumb,” which brought the show to a spectacular close, left everyone amazed by I.M.’s skill and magnetism.
I.M said he was pleased of himself for finishing his first solo concert in Los Angeles as he closed up the evening. He took the time to introduce each band member, making sure they each had their fair share of attention. He also mentioned he would be back in LA. Beaming, fans departed The Wiltern feeling they had been a part of something genuinely unique—a night where I.M. flourished as a solo artist and made a lasting impression on Los Angeles.
