‘I Say Too Much‘, co-produced with Bani Hidir (53A, B-quartet) is the third, and focus single of Jaime Wong’s eponymous second EP. The single is influenced by pop-punk bands of the 2000’s. The single could now be found on all streaming platforms.
About Jaime Wong’s Single
The song is a confessional of some sort, summing up Jaime’s insecurities, idiosyncrasies and… her tendency to say too much.
“It’s probably going to sound a bit narcissistic but I wanted to write a song about ‘me’. I’ve always steered away from writing songs that are too ‘real’ or personal, always drawing subject matter from friends, movies I’ve watched, books I’ve read or other songs. But I am in an interesting stage of my life where at 32, I am not really in the same ‘life stage’ as most of my peers. I do feel left out sometimes, recognising that I’ve been socially engineered to think this way! I talk about this a bit too much. Sometimes I don’t think people really want to listen about how I feel like as much of a misfit now as I did when I was a teenager. So the next thing to do is to write a song about it. I wanted the song to have a lot of teenage angst, along the vein of feeling misunderstood and unheard. Of course that means referencing pop-punk bands from the 2000s and bands like Haim and The 1975 that are very much influenced by a nostalgic sound. This is my pop-punk, pop-rock fever dream and I never thought I would put out a song like this.”
