On October 20, 2017, Day6 began their North American Live & Meet Tour in Los Angeles, California with the best production team, SubKulture Entertainment. The JYP Entertainment band of 5 members have attempted several times to have a U.S. Tour but were unfortunately unsuccessful until SubKulture Entertainment announced they’d be coming for a tour with them and so everyone knew the boys will finally have the tour they dreamed about.
This month, they visited Los Angeles, which is Jae’s hometown, followed by Austin, New York, Detroit and finished off successfully in Toronto, which is Young K’s home. Out of the five stops, they sold out shows in Los Angeles and New York while leaving Austin, Detroit and Toronto with very few tickets.
HypnoticAsia had the opportunity to cover the stop in Los Angeles (we’ll later provide a review for the show in Detroit) and the boys were fantastic performers! They held their show in Orange County at the La Mirada Theatre with literally a full house. The fans arrived early to get their wristbands for the fan sign and hi-touch; fan sites were also giving out free banners, cards and stickers in support of the boys.
The SubKulture staff opened the doors and allowed fans in at a timely manner and nobody had to rush to their seats which allowed fans to feel relaxed and ready for the show. They started the show on time and the members of Day6 were completely shocked by the amazing response the fans were giving to them.
Danny Lim was the MC for this tour. He hosted the show and interviewed members Jae, Sungjin, Dowoon, Young K and Wonpil on stage with all their fans present and giving live reactions to their answers; some fans were even hilariously answering the questions for them which easily swayed Sungjin and Young K’s responses. They answered questions about their music, their fans, as well as, their growth as a team over the years. These questions were asked by their fans whom were present prior to the show.
Day6 then played a game with all their MY DAYS in Los Angeles. Danny, the MC for the night, gave the instructions and then fans were ready to play. They played the preference game where fans would lift their left or right hands to choose what the member prefers as it came up on the screen and then they sit down when they are wrong. It definitely started off hilariously in a showdown where the members and fans all agreed that Jae didn’t know his preference between shirts or sweaters (you had to be there!). One lucky winner was able to meet the boys on stage and won a ton of Day6 signed merchandise; the benefits of knowing the boys so well!
The rest of the show was their amazing concert with more songs like “Congratulations,” “I Smile,” and “Man in a Movie” among many more. Fans sang along to most of the songs and/or fanchanted.
Towards the end, Jae told fans to sit down and relax while enjoying live music but MY DAYS of LA definitely rejected that offer with a loud “NO” where Jae promptly responded “you do you”. Fans enjoyed the concert by standing throughout the whole concert and rocked out to the amazing music Day6 provided on stage.
Day6’s reaction throughout the night was that Los Angeles is “CRAZY!” and that’s crazy in a good way. The non-english speaking members definitely seemed a little shy and nervous to interact with fans in the beginning but began to open up towards the end because of the “crazy” LA enthusiasm. Day6 seemed to have had an amazing night and the concert ended with some inspirational words by Jae who told fans to “never let anyone say you can’t”.
Stay tuned for our coverage of the Detroit stop where they played different games.
