FTISLAND made their Los Angeles comeback after almost two years at Club Nokia on January 30, with their solo concert FTHX (FTISLANDxTHANX).
As the concert began at 8PM, leader Choi Jonghoon opened the show on keyboard and led the group in a nearly two-hour show that kept their audience enthused and engaged the entire time, despite not having released any new Korean music since 2013.
FTISLAND kept their fans (dubbed Primadonnas) on the edge of their seats with an incredible set list that included their hit songs such as “Sarang Sarang Sarang”, “Memory” and a few Japanese hits. With the crowd response, there’s no denying the absolute star power and live vocal talents of Lee Hongki as well as members Choi Jonghoon, Lee Jaejin, Choi Minhwan & Song Seunghyun who all kept the show riveting and authentic with their instrumental, vocal, and rapping prowess.
After initially hyping up the crowd, the band slowed things down and decided to get up close and personal with the fans by lining up and sitting down to perform an acoustic set, beginning with “Stay”, in which the audience sang along. After this song, the love between FTISLAND and their Primadonnas resonated throughout the club as Primadonnas sang the choruses of FTISLAND’s “Severely” loudly and earnestly.
In addition to the wholesome performances, the audience was in for a few funny moments which included FTISLAND’s friend and fellow musician, Jamil, helping out with English translations via Jaejin and Hongki. The fans had fun watching Hongki speak in Korean to Jaejin who translated the Korean to Japanese, and had Jamil translate the Japanese to English. The entire spectacle resulted in much laughter from the audience.
Lastly, the boys of FTISLAND decided to end the show on a high note and performed several more fun tracks such as “Flower Rock” with Jamil before leaving the stage only to come back and perform two encore tracks – “Beautiful” and “On My Way”.
Overall, the concert was a beautiful event that allowed FTISLAND to reconnect with their fans in LA.
