On September 2, 2012, a K-POP artist took over the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California at 8:30pm. There were thousands of fans lined up outside the venue from early morning and were well prepared with water and umbrellas. Thousands of fans waiting outside in the high degree weather just to guarantee a good spot indoors.
That K-POP idol with thousands of fans willing to stand in the heat all day was none other than JYJ’s very own member Xia Junsu! As many fans know, the singer released his first solo album “Tarantallegra” this past May and later released his first single in English titled “Uncommitted”.
Junsu showed off many talents at the concert from dance to ballad to musicals. The concert started off with the music video for the title song “Tarantallegra” and then Junsu later came out and performed a number of dance songs like “Fever” and “Intoxication”, as well as, many more off the album for his fans. He later changed into another outfit and performed ballads as well as talked to fans at the concert showing off his cute English that Xia fans love so much. Not only did he talk with fans, the singer even gave the lucky fans in the crowd a chance to ask him for 3 wishes which he called “Genie Time”. The three wishes fans had asked of him were: to do his famous ageyo(cute) angel Junsu pose, to wish a fan Happy Birthday and to dance to the popular song by Psy “Gangnam Style”. Junsu also mentioned that he had just met up with Psy when they were both in LA the week before.
When Junsu was done talking with fans, he went on to perform ballads and then again went to change. His dancers took the time for a dance break and danced to JYJ’s “Be My Girl”, prompting all the fans to dance along. Later Junsu came out and did 3 songs from his musicals (Elizabeth) which he is famous for in Korea. Again Junsu did some more dance songs, performed “Tarantallegra”. Later on in the concert, he finally performed “Uncommitted”. The producer “Automatic” was also at the venue watching closely as Junsu performed all his songs perfectly.
Junsu then left the stage, but many fans wondered why since it didn’t seem planned. He then came out after a short time explaining he ripped his pants during “Uncommitted”and had to run and change. He joked with the fans and said “I saw all you girls looking” and it was “fan service” gaining laughter from the crowd. Also, Junsu talked about how it was like working with the producer “Automatic” and filming the music video with the girls and how they helped him relax since he felt awkward and embarrassed.
Junsu then sang some more ballads to end the show. He came out for the last encore stage and cried while singing the last song “Fallen Leaves”. Many fans cried along with him and cheered for him.
Many artists and producers were at this concert in LA, like former After School member KaHi, international girl group BLUSH, YouTube singer David Choi and many producers like Automatic, Steven Lee, Sean Alexander and more went to show their support of the artist.
Overall, this concert was a total success with fun and emotional moments. Junsu’s next leg of the tour is in Mexico on September 6th.
