KBS2 drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” was a great drama to watch in 2010. The drama was comedy, romance and Korean history and was really amazing to watch and learn new things in the same time. It’s based on the novel “The Lives of Sungkyunkwan Confucian Scholars 1 & 2”. This is a 20 episode drama and the OST also sounds amazing with JYJ singing some of the songs.
This drama stars some of the biggest actors and actresses in Korea such as, Jun Tae Soo, Yoo Ah In, Song Joong Ki, Seo Hyo Rim and Park Min Young. Also, singer Park Yoochun (also known as Micky Yoochun) acted for the first time in this drama and had standing ovations from many critics and fellow actors.
This drama’s ratings weren’t bad, had an average of 10.1% and it’s highest rating about 13%. The drama won many awards at the end of the year KBS Drama Awards 2010. Park Yoochun and Park Min Young received ‘Best Couple’ along with Yoo Ah In and Song Joong Ki (yes two guys have won best couple for the first time in Korea). Actress Park Min Young won ‘Excellence Award, Novella Drama – Actress”, Micky Yoochun won “Newcomer Actor Award”, Actor Song Joong Ki got the “Popularity Award”. Also, Park Min Young and Park Yoochun won the “Netizens’ Award”.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal is set in Sungkyunkwan University in the late Joseon era during the reign of King Jeongjo, revolving around the exploits and love stories of four youths. When her younger brother’s illness worsens and their family is in danger of being evicted from their house for lack of money, Kim Yoon Hee enters the school under his name, disguised as a boy in her desperation to support him. There, she becomes friends with the intelligent and upright Lee Sun Joon, the playboy Goo Yong Ha and rebellious Moon Jae Shin. —Dramawiki
