K-Play!Fest was held for the first time on January 15th and 16th at The Fairplex in Pomona, CA. This event became a part of the larger scale Anime Impulse and Sneaker Expo that’s held yearly at The Fairplex. This was double the treat for fans who enjoy both Anime and K-POP (triple if they also have an affinity to sneakers/streetwear). A ticket to K-Play!Fest included access to the whole event held in that area – Anime Impulse and Sneaker Expo. From 10AM to 7PM on both days, fans were able to visit creative K-POP booths to buy pins, buttons, artwork and merchandise of their favorite artists! Stickers, stationary, and tote bags from “Mono Child”; cup sleeves from “No Limits”; pins from “Pintricate”; and official merchandise from one of the event sponsors, “SubKulture Entertainment”.
Expo/Fest Engagement!
Heading to the very back of the hall, a stage was setup for interviews, signings, and dance covers which ended up extending to the floor as fans joined in for a fun dance party. On the right side was a dedicated area for fans to trade photocards in hopes of someone having their biases cards or an elusive photocard that just doesn’t want to appear in the albums they’ve bought. This also brings a better way for fans to do this as oftentimes they have to try to meetup or mail it to another fan (hoping it doesn’t get lost).
Of course, an event isn’t complete without photo opportunities. Heading to the back was not one but two different photo areas to take pictures with BTS. One being an Instagram frame, and the other being standees of the Tiny Tan versions of BTS. Towards the middle of the hall was a K-Play!Fest photo area with blue lights and clouds that came out great in photos! All attendees couldn’t resist stopping for a picture even if they weren’t there for the K-POP portion of the event.
Overall, the event was a success! Hopefully we’ll see them again next year, bigger and better! Don’t miss the next one!
