KCON 2016 USA revealed today that girl group GFriend and boy group Block B are the first artists to join the KCON 2016 Los Angeles lineup.
Celebrating its fifth anniversary, KCON USA is the world’s largest Korean culture convention and music festival. KCON NY is returning to the Prudential Center and will expand to two nights of concerts running June 24-25. KCON LA kicks off a month later and takes place July 29-31 at the Staples Center and Los Angeles Convention Center.
Tickets for KCON NY go on sale beginning May 13, and KCON LA go on sale beginning June 3:

- GFriend
GFriend (여자친구) is a six-member South Korean girl group formed by Source Music in 2015. The group consists of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB and Umji. They made their debut with the five-track EP Season of Glass. Since their debut, GFriend has won several 2015 female rookie awards, garnering attention for being one of the hottest new girl groups in South Korea. In 2016, they made a comeback with their third EP Snowflake and won first place on many music shows with the song Rough.
- Block B
Taeil, Jaehyo, B-Bomb, U-Kwon, Park Kyung, Zico and P.O. are the seven members of Block B. Zico, the leader of the group, was recognized as a rapper before Block B’s debut, producing hip hop mixtapes with top level hip hop artists. The group writes, composes, and produces their own songs.
Block B recently released A Few Years Later, the lead single of their 5th mini album Blooming Period which drops this April.
- Twice
Twice is a nine member girl group under JYP Entertainment that debuted in 2015 through the reality show “Sixteen.” The members are Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. Their first mini-album “The Story Begins” featured the title track “Like OOH-AHH,” which was well received by the public. The music video for that song hit 50 million views within five months of its release and is now the most-viewed debut music video for any K-pop group.
- TTS
TTS (also known as 소녀시대-태티서, Girls’ Generation-TTS, and TaeTiSeo) is a girl group consisting of three members of the popular K-pop group Girls’ Generation, including members Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun. The group debuted in 2012 with their extended play “Twinkle,” which was the first album by a Korean artist to rank number one on the Billboard World Albums chart. Their second extended play, “Holler,” also debuted at number one on the Billboard World Albums chart, making them the third Korean artist, and the first female artist, to have more than one number one with this honor.

CNBLUE (also known as 씨엔블루) is a pop-rock boy group under CJ E&M that debuted in Japan in 2009 with their extended play “Now and Never,” and South Korea in 2010 with “Bluetory,” which was a major success, topping various music and album sales charts within five days of release. The members of CNBLUE consist of Jung Yong-hwa, Lee Jong-hyun, Kang Min-hyuk, and Lee Jung-shin. They have nine songs that have charted the Gaon Chart in the top 10, with 직감 (“Intuition”) and “Hey You” reaching number one. Both of their Korean albums have gone number one on the Gaon Charts, as well as six extended plays reaching number one.
