On the night of October 1st, 2023, fans gathered at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. Kingdom, stormed the stage with performances for their Grand America Tour that not only displayed their musical skill but also their close relationship with their audience.
The Night Begins With Kingdom
Kingdom started the show with “Excalibur,” setting the mood for a night of fantasy and musical enchantment. An exciting entrance! The flawless blending of voice and dance captured the audience’s attention right away and created the atmosphere they hopefully envisioned. Something to note that was a bit disappointing was that they did not wear Hanboks (Korean traditional style clothes) for the LA stop. These outfits are something that fans see as part of the groups concept. Instead, they wore full denim outfits.
The group led the crowd on a tour of their discography during the course of the evening. They hit on favorites like “Dystopia” and “Promise.” The latter, delivered with genuine emotion, struck a chord with the crowd deeply and brought the artists and their devoted audience together. Kingdom expressed their thanks and recalled their previous visit to USC from the previous year. This shows that they were really happy to be back in Los Angeles.
Just for Los Angeles
When Kingdom performed “Elements” only for their LA fans, the event took an unexpected turn. The audience cheered wildly in response to this unexpected inclusion. We were then told that the choreography during the song’s finale was created by member Arthur. In addition to being physically impressive, the sophisticated dance techniques demonstrated Kingdom’s dedication to giving an engaging and memorable performance. They also showcased short covers (much like Tik Toks) of songs such as SB19‘s “Gento”, YOASOBI’s “Idol”, and more.
The group’s rendition of Stray Kids’ “Thunderous,” which switched to “Case 143,” was a memorable moment, demonstrating their variety and capacity to maintain a high level of enthusiasm. The joyful surprise of Shawn Mendes’ “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” being included in the set-list showed Kingdom’s talent at blending genres and surprising their audience. Kingdom used the opportunity to interact with their audience in between songs. Conversing with them and sharing their happiness at being back in Los Angeles. The band members expressed their excitement for the approaching tour, which had long been a goal of theirs. They announced the long-awaited tour’s arrival with a proud grin, signaling an important turning point in their development as musicians.
The End of the Night
Kingdom’s stirring performance of “Long Live the King” served as the concert’s crescendo, leaving the crowd in awe of the stage. The members’ excitement for their approaching October 18th comeback was expressed, escalating the anticipation among fans who can’t wait to see what the group has in store.
The group left the stage to only come back out in tour t-shirts to perform their encore. Kingdom finished the show with “On Air” and the contagious beat of “WAKA WAKA”. This left the audience feeling content and hungry for more in the euphoric last seconds of the performance.
