MAMAMOO stopped in Los Angeles, California for their last U.S. leg of the MY CON tour. The 4-members, Hwasa, Solar, Wheein and Moonbyul sold out the Kia Forum on June 4th, 2023. Their fans gathered early to lineup at the venue and showed their excitement of finally seeing the girl group.
MAMAMOO Perform Hit Tracks!
The ladies of MAMAMOO came on stage about 10 minutes late but their Moomoo’s (fanclub name) were patient as they sang along to their songs. As fans walked into the forum, they were met with a scene of four microphone stands and colorful lights on stage.
The lights dimmed and the first VCR clip began by showing all the members one at a time. MAMAMOO came onto the stage at the end of that video and performed their first song “1,2,3, eoi” before going straight into “Mr. Ambiguous”. After these two exciting tracks, they took a break and introduced themselves. They mentioned their surprise and how grateful they were that the LA stop is sold out.
Their next set started with an intro which included a dance break from their dancers before performing “Aya”, “Illella”, “Decalcomanie”, and “Hip”. Following this set of songs, the members ran off stage and an animated VCR clip that they voiced started playing. The crowd definitely enjoyed the comedic video and even more so when it continued on stage with MAMAMOO using masks. They later reveal that Solar wrote the story line. This, of course, introduced the performance of one of their most fun tracks “Taller Than You”.
Solos
Before running off stage to prepare for the next set, they mention that LA is the loudest from all the cities and they hope they have energy for whats coming next. As a special for their concert, they each performed another members solo song:
- Solar performed Wheein’s “Watercolor”
- Hwasa performed Moonbyul’s “Eclipse”
- Wheein performed Solar’s “Honey”
- Moonbyul performed Hwasa’s “TWIT”
After this, they come out as a group to do more solo tracks “Spit It Out”, “Make Me Happy”, “Lunatic”, and most well known track “Maria”. A VCR clip started again where we see the members sitting at a counter of a restaurant and the members switching on who is behind the counter. They chatted amongst themselves about various topics which included likes and dislikes.
MAMAMOO came back on stage with more emotional tracks “Paint Me” and “Star Wind Flower Sun”; which they sang with fans at the end. They stopped to chat with fans again and mention that the cheers from the audience make them forget they were even tired.
High Energy
Next are the high energetic tracks “Egotistic” and “gogobebe”. During this chat, they let the audience know that even though their language is different, music makes everyone understand each other and become one. They then said their ending comments as it was the end of the show. Wheein said she couldn’t believe it was the last show and they have to go back to Korea already. Fans screamed “don’t go” so they responded “but I have to…moomoo do you have room in your homes?” Of course everyone’s response was a deafening “YES” which made the members laugh at their fans enthusiasm. They performed “Starry Night” and “Wind Flower” as their “ending”.
Encore
Another VCR clip started off with the members at a tennis court. However, instead of playing tennis, they play a type of pictionary which was difficult for them and a mission relay which they easily passed. Their prize box included a sign that said “Encore” and caused the audience to yell it out for the members to return on stage.
The members came back out in their tour shirts and sweaters to perform “Travel”. During this song they walked around the stage to interact with fans. Hwasa takes a pink cowboy hat that most in the venue recognize from Twice’s last concert; Moonbyul also took out her phone to take pictures and videos of the members and audience. They went straight into “Yes I Am” before chatting with fans and taking a group picture with the whole audience.
Fan Event
A fan thank you video then started playing on screen behind the members. A variation of the video played at each stop showing their fans and support to MAMAMOO. Used the song “I Love Too” by MAMAMOO in the video. The audience sang along with the video and held up banners. Banner translated to “…destined to meet no matter what”. MAMAMOO brought out their lightsticks and taught the audience the fanchant and lightsticks movements to “L.I.E.C”. The concert ended with “L.I.E.C” and “Um Oh Ah Yeh”. As they said good bye and ran off stage, another VCR clip played.
This world tour was definitely overdue for this talented girl group. We definitely hope that MAMAMOO will come back again soon!
