On May 19th, 2024, Whee In, a member of the K-pop group MAMAMOO, held her solo concert in Los Angeles! This highly anticipated solo performance at the Orpheum Theatre was a must see for MAMAMOO fans. This concert, part of her solo tour, showcased her unique artistry and deep connection with fans, creating a memorable night filled with music, nostalgia, and heartfelt moments.
Opening: A Dynamic Start
Whee In opened with an energetic performance of “I Know I Know I Know,” “Watercolor,” and “Spark,” setting the tone for the evening. These songs instantly captured the audience’s attention because of their vivid energy and rich melody. After the opening, she moved smoothly into “Easy,” “Trash,” and “Bite Me,” the latter of which was only available live, adding even more significance to her fans’ live experience.
Heartfelt Connection
Whee In conveyed her delight and thankfulness during her first speech, describing how her fears vanished when she saw the excited audience. She expressed her gratitude to MooMoos(fan name), for their constant encouragement. As she thought back on her experience, she remarked on how unique it was to perform by herself, something she was unable to accomplish at MAMAMOO’s MYCON. She described staying at the same hotel as MAMAMOO’s 2015 schedule, and her nostalgia was evident when she recreated a photo from that era. She gave the occasion a personal touch by sharing a memory of eating at BCD Tofu House with her members.
The Concert Continues: A Blend of Emotions
The concert continued with a melancholy section that included “Butterfly,” “Paraglide,” and “Make Me Happy.” Fans got a peek into Whee In getting ready during a VCR interlude, when she made amusing decisions between soju or wine, alone or with others, and cosmetics or no makeup, etc. Intimate connection to the audience was achieved by showcasing her lively nature and preferences during this section.
Whee In made an appearance wearing new attire and gave an incredible performances of “Deserve” (long version), “On the Island,” “Dance 4 U,” and “17.” During the performance, she made a lighthearted adjustment to her makeup.
Candid Moments
Whee In openly discussed her experience singing “Shh,” an unreleased song that she had only hinted at during her solo shows. She made light of the listeners’ ecstatic responses to the more sensuous tone of the song by joking that they were “weird and suspicious.” Whee In also added that “Deserve” was another song that was only available during the concert, adding to the fans’ private experience.
She sang three more songs: “In the Mood,” “Shh,” and “Pastel,” all of which showed off her range of emotions and range of performance. She worried about how quickly time was passing and promised to keep making amazing music and getting in touch with her fans in the future.
Finale: A Purr-fect Ending
After “Here I Am,” which closed the main concert, Whee In exited the stage to thunderous cheers and cries for an encore. The encore started with a silly VCR that showed Whee In behaving like a cat before she performed “OHOO.” She and her backup dancers ended the evening with a lively and amusing performance while engaging with cat toys.
The encore included a fan VCR with fan art and humorous statements from Whee In. Then there was a heartfelt moment as fans gave her signs as a surprise. She gave energetic and mesmerizing performances of “Springtime,” “D-Day,” and “Whee,” with the dancers joining her. Following her bow and exit from the stage, Whee In made a last appearance to the pleasure of the crowd with an unscheduled performance of “Whee,” which was reminiscent to Seventeen’s encore routine of “Aju Nice.”
