The release party for MIN’s new EP, “PRIME TIME,” took place on Friday June 21st, 2024. It was held at Racket NYC and it also happened to be her birthday. As a veteran of the Korean music industry (a former miss A member) and Broadway performer, MIN has been honing her craft for longer than most K-pop careers, and the night showcased her mastery. The event offered light sticks, complimentary cocktails inspired by tracks on the EP, and raffle tickets for free merchandise. Attendees mingled and chatted about on how excited they were for MIN’s latest release and first EP.
MIN Reveals “PRIME TIME”
The night began with the broadcast of the performance video of her title track, “PRIME TIME.” This was followed by a live performance of “SHIMMY (Skip),” a fun, upbeat track about skipping past things that drags one down. During interludes between performances, MIN discussed with the MCs of the event the message that she wants to convey to everyone: only she can decide when her “prime time” in her career is. “M.A.W.” (for Might As Well) was a sweet performance about accepting wanting to be with someone.
For the last track of the EP, MIN prefaces it by explaining how important her grandmother is to her, and how supportive her grandmother has been throughout her journey. “HAPPY PLANT (A Call from Grandma)” is a recording of a call between MIN and her grandmother about their special flower blooming. MIN later takes to the stage to perform “PRIME TIME” live, with the same precision and sharpness to the choreography as she had in the performance video.
To end the night, her staff and the MCs prepared a cake as well as a video montage of her friends and grandmother sending birthday wishes and congratulations on the release party. A sweet way to end the night, MIN thanked the attendees for celebrating the next chapter of her music career. This release party cemented one message for the night: this is MIN’s prime time, where she calls the shots, and no one else can tell her otherwise.
