DREAM PERFECT REGIME (DPR) held their North American DPR REGIME Tour stop in Los Angeles, California! On October 8th, 2022, DPR Live, +IAN, and Cream took over the LA Shrine Expo Hall near the USC campus. The last time they were in LA was for Head in the Clouds 2021.
We arrived a little over an hour before the show and the lines wrapped around buildings as fans waited for hours to see their favorite DPR guys. With an hour to go before the show, the doors opened and fans began filling the Expo Hall. The venue was playing storm-like sounds with lights going behind stage – many fans coming in thought the show was starting but soon realized, it wasn’t; the mood was just being set.
DPR Cream
First to appear on stage was our DJ, DPR Cream! When first coming out, all the audience can see was a mysterious flame and the smoke from it. Cream had the crowd following that small light on stage until he got to his booth and began his set. This include songs like “billboard uwu” which were accompanied by the flashing lights; which we soon learn will be throughout the show.
DPR Live
Next on set was the anticipated DPR Live with the track “Legacy”. He was dressed in a red astronaut like outfit which is soon taken to another level. In the next song “Neon”, a giant inflatable astronaut appears at the back of the stage (watch the music video for reference)! He performed many of his hit tracks such as “Text Me”, “Jasmine”, and “Martini Blue”. Each song during his set had either an outfit change or colorful lights and stage props. During “Hula Hoops”, he threw out inflatable floaties. During the last song of his set “Set it Off”, DPR Cline made a special feature.
DPR Ian
Last but not least, DPR Ian came on stage honing a mysterious mask with horns. As he unmasked himself, we were then surprised with large black wings behind him. His set was definitely darker than Live’s as he then launched into “So Beautiful”. He performed many fan favorites such as “Calico”, “Nerves”, and “Mr. Insanity”; as well as, “Ribbon” off of his latest album. As per usual, prior to “Scaredy Cat”, he gave a short talk about the meaning of the track and why it was written. The heavy snowfall during “Winterfall” depicted the feelings and mood of the track. His costume changes were limited to removing a jacket or adding a cowboy hat during “Calico”; however, the most dramatic outfit change was taking off his shirt for the anticipating audience.
Of course DPR Live and Ian had to perform “No Blueberries” together. The whole DPR Gang then came on stage for “To Myself”. The DPR Team is well known for being artistic and detail oriented and this was shown throughout the show. Unfortunately their North American tour is now complete but if you missed this one, be sure to catch them next time they’re in the U.S.!
