Stray Kids return to the US a year later for their new tour District 9: Unlock and end in Los Angeles, California at the Microsoft Theater on February 16, 2020. This JYP Entertainment boy group definitely came back stronger than ever. Not only was the group ready for a bigger and better tour but the production value of the concert increased to wow everyone present in the venue. With the addition of moving LED screens and strategic lights, this concert put on by SubKulture Entertainment was visually pleasing. Adding in the pure talent and charisma Stray Kids put on stage, this was not a concert to be missed which showed with the full house present!
If the crowd wasn’t already ready, the introduction with the SKZ Anthem definitely made sure the crowd was ready. The boy group started out with a remix of their track “District 9” and moved quickly through five high energy songs before they were finally able to take a break. They greet and introduce themselves to their fans, Stay during the first MENT of the concert where leader Bangchan stated that, “Today is going to be a good day because LA energy is crazy!”
After the MENT, the members went right back into their performances with “M.I.A”, dance line then performed “WOW” and “Mixtape #4.” The dance line stage showed off the members and their strong dance skills. After the second MENT, the members went on to perform more fun tracks including “Get Cool” and “Awkward Silence” before showcasing “My Universe” with a beautiful vocal line consisting of maknaes (youngest) IN and Seungmin featuring Changbin. Stay were also able to hear an amazing ballad version of the track “I am YOU” before going into the famous 3RACHA unit stage with “We Go” where they brought out the couch and Bangchan’s … hair dryer?
As the group wasn’t even near done with the concert at this point, Stray Kids performed a crowd favorite, “My Pace,” where Stay joined in with immense fan chants. A special dance break was also included where members threw in random dances by other artists and IN didn’t forget to add in a move from Twice’s “Fancy.” The third MENT had Stray Kids expressing their awe of the audiences energy. They didn’t forget to thank Stay about being with them on their journey since debut and making sure everyone remembers that no matter who you are, everyone is allowed in their district.
“Double Knot,” “Hellevator,” “Boxer,” “Miroh,” and more were performed before a surprise video made by fans was showed on screen showing their love and support to Stray Kids. The video definitely had them tearing up and humbly thanking the fans for giving them the energy and support to keep going. They cheered for fans “we love Stay, we love Stay!
A fun thing that was added to the concert this time around is game time with Stay on screen as the members prepared for the end of the concert. With a video instructing the audience on the moves, gestures, and sounds needed, it went on to playing songs by Stray Kids where the audience had to make hearts, dab, and yell out lyrics at the same time; it was definitely a sight to see!
Despite having to be tired during this long concert, Stray Kids ended the concert with “Grow Up,” “YAYAYA” and their encore stage “Miroh.” The members couldn’t thank the audience enough for the great response during the concert and the fans screamed even louder to thank the members for the awesome show they put on.
It was definitely a battle between Stray Kids and Stay on who had the most energy, as both sides gave it their all as performers and audience. If you didn’t catch Stray Kids this time around during their tour, be sure to NOT miss out next time as they will definitely be back bigger and better.
