On February 4, 2023, ONEUS return to California with their 1st world tour “Reach For Us”. This is definitely not their first time in Southern California as they’ve held various concerts here throughout the years. The group previously held their concert in 2019 in Los Angeles, followed by 2022 in Beverly Hills. Now they were able to show how much they’ve grown as this time they filled the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
From the set list to their outfit choices, we were shown that this was definitely different than their last concert in 2022. The previous tour focused on their tracks that would have them wearing hanboks (traditional Korean attire), while this tour went with a more casual style. Keonhee explained that this tour title “Reach For Us” came from the track “Intro: Eden” which conveys their desire to visit many countries to reach their fans. The group started off the night with one of their powerful dance tracks “Bring It On”. This set the stage for the first few performances as they went on to perform “Come Back Home” and “Black Mirror”.
ONEUS: Special Performances
Other than performing popular title tracks and a few thoughtfully picked out B Side tracks, the group members also worked hard on a few special performances. They started off with a vocal and dance cover “Pink Venom” by BLACKPINK. This version was definitely their own and fit their vocal range quite well and was special to see live as they previously performed it in Korea on MBC Show Champion. Next up was a dance performance by members Seonho, Leedo, and Hwanwoong to Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back”. Some fans in the audience may have recognized this performance from the 2022 KBS Gayo Dajeon (music festival) so it was a treat to see this live.
All five members of ONEUS joined in for a dance medley to songs off of the “Top Gun” soundtrack. A small wardrobe accident occurred where member Leedo couldn’t tear his shirt open during the medley but the youngest member Xion was there to assist. “Life is Beautiful” was also added to the setlist just as it was during the 2022 tour as the song is in English and speaks more to international fans.
Encore
ONEUS made the concert more special and intimate for fans by having everyone sit during the song “What You Doing” so that they can be up close and personal. Once this song started and the audience agreed to stay seated, the members started running through the aisles to wave or hi five fans. The balcony was not excluded from this which sometimes happens at concerts due to the artists being unable to make it to there. Thankfully this venue allowed easy access to the upstairs balcony and the members of the group were willing. As this was the last stop of the tour, they added an extra song to the set list by doing a encore performance of “No Diggity”.
This concert was catered to their fans ToMoons as even the VCRs were seen as special clips to the fans in the audience. From behind the scene snippets to responding to questions about themselves, these videos showed that they knew what their fans wanted to see from them. As we’ve seen, the group does not miss a chance to visit the USA when possible so we’re sure they’ll be back as soon as they can!
