On September 2nd and 3rd, MYX and the 626 Night Market presented a two-day concert with incredible artists in Arcadia, California! TFW (which stands for That Feeling When) brought many people together to enjoy music and food for a fabulous addition to the Night Market.
With 626 Night Market, many know that there are endless choices when it comes to food. This time around, an additional ticketed event called “TFW” was added on so that attendees can grab food and then head over to the race track where the concert was being held. This concert gave everyone a chance to enjoy music by new artists, as well as throwing it back to the well-rounded, seasoned artists.
The star-studded lineup includes artists who rose to fame on YouTube like Melissa Polinar and Jeremy Passion, and those who were inspired by them, like eaJ (former member of Day6). Also on the lineup are rising artists Justin Park and Jamieboy. Let’s not forget, P-Lo, UMI, and Joyce Wrice alongside many more.
That Feeling When (TFW) Day 1
September 2nd, 2023 marks the first day of the event. With fans lining up early, the event was delayed a short bit but it didn’t stop anyone from being excited for the lineup. While it was a gloomy evening, the worst part wasn’t the chance of rain but the humidity that made everyone feel a little sticky. But everyone stuck through it and seemed to enjoy the event regardless. The best part was allowing fans to come in and out of the concert as they wish. Fans were often seen running to grab some snacks in between artist sets.
The headliner for day 1 was eaJ (Jae Park). He spent time at his merchandise booth signing shirts & other things all day. If you asked for a picture or hug he also gave those. Fans and artists easily called him the sweetest artist of the day.
Mark Dozens
Hitting the stage first is Mark Dozens, a local artist based in Long Beach, California. Joining him on the spin table is DJ Jude Labastida. Mark performed his latest track “Fellowship” which was released 4 months ago. This is in addition to several of his other tracks. He hyped the crowd for whats to come.
Jessica Domingo
Jessica Domingo was up next with her band. She performed several of her own songs, including “After Midnight” which she introduced was off the debut album Butterfly. Also off the same album, she sang “Island” and showcased her beautiful vocals on stage. The crowd cheered her on and really enjoyed the set she prepared for everyone!
Melissa Polinar
Singer-songwriter, Melissa Polinar who started her music career on YouTube was third to perform on the first day. Melissa performed some of her hit songs like “Try”, “Always Need You” and of course, “Meant To Be”. Joining her on stage as backup singers were Rachel Gonzalez and Kenton Chen.
The artist couldn’t leave the stage without mentioning how eaJ came to her green room to give her flowers. He told her all about how he watched her YouTube videos which has always inspired him. During this, eaJ turned around from the merchandise booth he was at to give her a heart!
Jeremy Passion
Another singer-songwriter who grew to fame through his YouTube channel, is Jeremy Passion. He performed “All Smiles”, “Bye Bye”, and many more. He threw it back with an R&B Medley that fans sang along to and then performed his popular tracks, “Nothing” as well the crowd favorite, “Lemonade”.
Joyce Wrice
Joyce Wrice, a Japanese-African American artist who hails from California made her way to the TFW stage. She had stage fans that blew wind in her hair for aesthetic as she danced with her two backup dancers. Joyce also had a few band members on stage. The local artist rose to fame with her track, “Iced Tea” so of course, she closed off her set with that. She also performed her track, “That’s On You” which is originally a collaboration track with UMI (who headlined the 2nd night of TFW). Joyce also sang one of her favorite songs, “Lookin for Ya”. She had some fans in the crowd wearing her shirt and she shouted them out.
Headliner: eaJ
eaJ ended the first night with his great energy! The former K-POP idol, came to the stage in a cap and a bomber jacket (and hood on). He explained that he knows it’s hot but it was sponsored so he had to wear it. eaJ performed many of his tracks from his solo EP including “Castle In The Sky”, “Enemy”, “Car Crash” and “In My Civic”.
It is clear that he appreciates his fans and the love they show him. The artist jumped off stage and into the crowd who formed a circle around him and sang along.
He had small mic issues but he didn’t let it bother him as he kept his professionalism on stage. The former idol ended night one and everyone left feeling amazed at the talent.
The talent from night one of That Feeling When (TFW) is unforgettable. The fans left feeling energized for the 2nd concert and didn’t let the drizzle ruin their day.
That Feeling When (TFW) Day 2
Day two brought sunshine and a slight breeze. Fans ran into the event feeling excited for the lineup. Artists set to perform include demxnita, JamieBoy, Sarah Kang, Justin Park, P-Lo, and UMI.
demxntia
Opening up day 2 is Florida based Vietnamese American artist, demxntia! He performed his tracks, “Motions” as well as “Til Death Do Us Part” among others. If you didn’t already know, he’ll be going on tour with CozyBoy and Dion Dugas who joined him on stage at the festival. JamieBoy
R&B singer-songwriter JamieBoy performs next! Coming from Oxnard, California, the artist performed many of his songs including, “Ohh Wee!”, “You Got it” as well as an unreleased track! JamieBoy also performed “Say Less” and did a great job hyping the crowd. His talent was clearly shown on stage and not only was he enjoying it, but so was the audience. JamieBoy has the vocals and the moves! He definitely left with more fans after his remarkable set.
Sarah Kang
Talented singer-songwriter Sarah Kang came to the stage and performed various songs she has released. She mentioned that she expected a mic stand to be there but was thrown off a bit when it wasn’t. Honestly though, she played it off pretty well and didn’t look awkward at all. She performed her track “cheeze” which her husband, Andrew Kang joined her on stage for. Andrew garnered cheers from the crowd for bringing the mic-stand for her. Sarah also performed “Let’s Run Away” with Orion Song as well as, “Trip Around The Sun” with Uzuhan!
Justin Park
It was finally time for rising artist, Justin Park as he was joined on stage by his drummer, Ronald Lee, and Drew Lee (KORDREW). Justin also brought four dancers: Ellen Kim, Laura Mizuno, Jonny Tran, Skyler Huang. He gave a shout out to Ted Park as he performed their collaboration track, “Adore You, Dior You”. “Mi Vida” and “Shady” were other hit tracks he performed for the audience who came to watch him. In terms of covers, he performed “Dilemma” by Nelly and “Seven” by Jungkook of BTS. He didn’t forget to thank Jungkook for his past shout out of “On The Low” and ended his set with that song.
Justin did well in bringing the energy to the stage. It was clear he was a fan of P-Lo because when his set was over, he joined the crowd to watch the artist!
P-Lo
P-Lo’s fans really did make up much of the audience that night. They all came down from the stands to get closer for the performance to come. He performed “Talkin Bout”, “Same Squad”, “Mental Health” and many more. P-Lo hyped the crowd with his setlist and even had his mascot come on stage. He danced on stage and everyone was having a wonderful time watching the artist. When his track “Put Me On Something” started playing, everyone shouted the lyrics California on my license plate. He went from one side of the stage to the other and remembered to always include everyone through every song.
He clearly got everyone’s energy up for the headliner, UMI!
Headliner: UMI
Meditation queen, UMI came to the stage with a beautiful set up! There were flowers on the table behind her, a beautiful quilt-like cover on her DJ table, and vines around the mic stands. Joining her on stage is V-Ron who played guitar and took charge of all the music on stage for UMI!
The artist came out in her long T-Shirt which was also being sold at the merchandise table. Her positive energy instantly lit up the night as she performed multiple tracks including “Ordinary”, “Happy I’m”, “Butterfly, “Remember Me” and many more. She interacted with fans and asked them all questions. The fans felt loved and special by the artist. Not only that but she jumped off the high stage and sang with the audience by the barricade.
UMI also had some covers in her setlist including “Self Control” by Frank Ocean and “Best Part” originally by Daniel Caesar. Unfortunately, her mic stopped working during the “Best Part” cover but that didn’t stop her. The audience sang the entire song out loud with her as she casually passed the mic back to the staff to fix it.
UMI ended the night with a positive meditation/prayer for everyone and everyone left the venue feeling her bright and positive vibes.
MYX and 626 Night Market brought forth two nights of unforgettable memories for the audience in attendance and the artists as well!
