The first day in LA for the ACT: PROMISE world tour by KPOP superstar TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) began on May 21, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles. This is almost exactly one year since their last concert in LA. The energy was apparent as fans, also known as, “Moa’s,” waited outside the arena, taking pictures with TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) placards and posting about the excitement on social media. As attendees snapped pictures with the stage in the background and sang along to music videos that were playing on the large screen, the excitement inside intensified.
Spoiler Alert
For those planning to attend this tour, you might want to save the surprise and read this after experiencing the concert yourself!
The Show Begins
A captivating VCR asking,
“Do you remember the promise we made to each other at world’s end?”
introduced the show. After the video concluded, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) appeared onto the stage to deliver an amazing performance of their most recent song, “Deja Vu.” They continued with “9 and Three Quarters (Run Away)” and then took a minute to introduce themselves. In a lighthearted reference to Los Angeles’ nickname, YEONJUN named LA Moa’s his angels while expressing their happiness at coming back in the city that had many memories for them; from their training days to different events.
Energetic Performances and Dramatic Exits by TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT)
They then went on with the set list with “0X1=LOVESONG” and “Devil by the Window.” The audience was in awe of BEOMGYU’s spectacular farewell as the screens changed into oil paintings of hand fans and folk lore. The group reappeared wearing traditional hanboks and playing a special rendition of “Sugar Rush Ride” with traditional music intertwined. During a brief performance of “Farewell, Neverland,” the stage raised and confetti dropped like flower petals, producing an amazing visual spectacle.
Fireworks erupted as the high-energy performances of “Magic” and “Chasing That Feeling” concluded, preceded by another VCR. The group celebrated fans’ graduations by revealing a bouquet of flowers during a later break. They happened to be visiting CA during the heavy graduation season. Before launching the bouquet into the crowd, they instructed the audience of a beat and led a lighthearted chant. Sadly, there was a small incident as a result of the bouquet touch, but the members immediately made sure the fan was safe before moving on.
Diverse Setlist and Special Segments by TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT)
Various songs, including “New Rules” and “LO$ER=LO♡ER”, were performed at the concert, and more confetti was thrown all over the arena. “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go” featured spectators being given cheering towels, while “Ghosting” was combined with a confetti cannon. They gave a more personal performance of “Trust Fund Baby” before two members left the stage. The youthful energetic performance of “Quarter Life” with a smaller group of HUENINGKAI, TAEHYUN, and BEOMGYU .
The next part of the concert was definitely more focused on flirty and sexy concepts. TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) opened with a performance featuring SOOBIN and YEONJUN in “The KILLA (I Belong to You)”. The rest of the members joined in again for performances of “Back for More” and “Tinnitus”. Hopefully day 2 of LA will a special guest performer during this section! With dramatic stage effects and instrument shattering in “Growing Pain,” and dramatics for “PUMA” and “Good Boy Gone Bad,” the intensity increased.
The Grand Finale
After a series of intricate VCRs and performances of “Dreamer” and “Deep Down,” the members interacted warmly with fans. They had the older team re-perform “The KILLA (I Belong to You),” prompting the younger team to do the same, creating a fun and engaging moment. Expressing their gratitude, they announced the show was nearing its end and performed “I’ll See You There Tomorrow,” ending with a burst of star-shaped confetti.
As fans chanted for an encore, the last VCR started playing to round up the concert. Instead of a question, they now gave the statement,
“I remember the promise we made to each other at worlds end.”
TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) returned in tour T-shirts, performing “Magic Island” while standing in a circle. They shared heartfelt messages, mostly in English (for the whole concert!), switching to Korean for their final goodbyes to express more deeply to their fans. TAEHYUN, however, maintained English throughout his farewell. The last song, “Miracle,” felt like a fitting conclusion, but the group had not one, but two more surprises: performances of “Cat & Dog” and the fan-dedicated “MOA Diary (Dubaddu Wari Wari)”. They made sure to walk to every corner of the stage to bow and say good-bye to their fans.
