South Korean boy group, VERIVERY kicked off their very first tour in the United States on Sunday, December 5th, 2021. Aside from BTS’s 4-nights in LA in late November/early December, VERIVERY is one of the first Korean artists to hold a tour in the USA since the pandemic began. The boys held their first stop in the City of Angels (Los Angeles) at The Vermont Hollywood. We were told by fans that they lined up as early as 1AM to ensure their spot in line!
VERIVERY’s First Tour in the U.S.
The group took the stage and started off strong with their hit track, “Lay Back“. They then performed “Thunder” which is their title track from their 4th mini album, Face You. These boys showcased their strong vocals, rap skills and choreography on stage within the first 10 minutes of the concert. If you thought the members of VERIVERY were handsome before, they are absolutely flawless in-person.
After the first two songs, they took a short break to hydrate and introduce themselves to their LA fans. Through this ment, they introduced themselves as a group, individually, as well as, the songs they’ve performed. The best part was that they were all speaking in English and while some were more confident than others, there was no questioning their dedication to express themselves to their international fans.
VERIVERY Slowed It Down
It was time to perform again and they slowed it down with a ballad. Seven mic stands were set up on stage and the group was ready to perform their beautiful song, “With Us,” and “All I Do”. If you’re a K-Drama fan, you’ll recognize “With Us” as the original soundtrack of ITAEWON CLASS.
After speaking with fans some more, they went on to perform their songs “Beautiful-X” and “Tag Tag Tag“. The “Beautiful-X” choreography is a favorite among fans and it was definitely shown with how loud they cheered for this performance.
Q&A With Fans
It was time for some fan fun! A large white board was brought to the stage with many fan questions posted on it. While half the members went to change, the other half remained on stage to answer some questions. Their leader, Dongheon read through a few questions before reading “why is Kangmin so handsome?” which Hoyoung responded to rip the sticky note causing their fans to burst into laughter.
They chose another question where they yelled “music cue” and music instantly started playing. The boys danced to aespa’s “Next Level” and “Dynamite” by BTS. Soon after the fun dance session, Minchan, Gyehyeon, and Yeonho returned to the stage wearing letterman jackets for a “refreshing” look according to the members. The other half went to get ready for the special stage to come.
Minchan and Gyehyeon said they wanted to try a sexy concept next time and showed a little snippet of a sexy dance. Meanwhile, Yeonho chose a rock concept. They also shouted “music cue” and Gyehyeon danced to “Gambler” by Monsta X while Yeonho and Minchan covered “LALISA” by Blackpink’s Lisa.
Special Stages
As teased before the Q&A, next up were special stages and after all the members changed into their letterman outfits, they were ready to perform some remixes and covers.
The first stage was a performance by Kangmin, Hoyoung, Dongheon and Yongseung. They started by dancing to “Limelight,” “Like This” and ended it with “My Universe” by Coldplay & BTS which of course had their fans singing along.
But it wasn’t over without Minchan, Gyehyeon and Yeonho performing “The Climb” by Miley Cryus. The vocal team sounded amazing but of course, in true LA fashion, fans completed the performance by singing along.
VERIVERY looked even more energetic after their special stages. They went on to perform some more of their title tracks like “Get Away” and their most recent release “Trigger”. They gave another short ment and hydrated themselves before once again jumping to another special stage!
On December 4th, 2021, the day before their first stop, they released a cover of “Christmas Lights” by Coldplay via their YouTube channel. They performed the beautiful cover on stage for their fans and wished them a Merry Christmas. They also surprised fans with an unreleased version of “Ring Ring Ring” which is their debut track. It was special because they performed it in English for the very first time.
The VERIVERY Encore
While fans knew it wasn’t the end because they revealed a spoiler set-list ahead of the event, they still hyped themselves up by chanting “ENCORE!” Sure enough, the boys came out in their tour t-shirts that were black with what looks like colorful paint splatters.
They performed their tracks “Alright,” “Super Special” and their last song for the night, “Paradise.” Before ending the concert, the group wanted to remember the night by taking a photo with fans!
Let’s just say – if you weren’t a fan before the concert, you left a VERRER (their fandom name) for sure!
*Please note: the last three (3) stops during the tour were canceled due to COVID-19.
