WEi, a 6-member boy group from South Korea made their last stop on their 2nd world tour PASSION in Los Angeles, California on May 31st, 2023 at the El Rey Theatre.
Venue: El Rey Theatre
WEi held their concert in LA at the historic El Rey Theatre yet again. The venue was built in 1936 and was used as a dance club before officially turning into a live music venue in 1994. Since then, many have performed at the location including K-POP acts, Kevin Woo (formerly a U-KISS member), AB6IX, WEi themselves in 2022 and more.
2nd World Tour: Passion
The concert started off at exactly 7PM when the curtains opened and their intro video played on screen. WEi come out to screams and performed their last single “Spray” before moving onto “Rose”. They took a break to introduce themselves. The members mentioned they’ll be back with all members next time as Yohan couldn’t this time. They then performed the energetic track “All or Nothing” before running off stage.
As soon as they ran off, a VCR clip played on screen. This time the members described preparing for tour. The video also showed behind the scenes clips of the “Moonlight” music video shoot. As the members returned to the stage, they performed the single “Higher Ground”. They explained that the song is about a “never-ending journey of going higher and higher in life”. Since the last tour, they mentioned that they’ve grown themselves and have become sexier and more charismatic. WEi also mentioned that they’re able to sing songs differently such as a cover of “abcdefu”. They had covered the edited version of this during the last tour but now didn’t feel that they needed to edit the song.
WEi then prepared the audience for the next song and said they want to hear Rui’s (name of their fanclub) voice for the next song “Moonlight”. The fans in the audience showed their passion by singing the song just as WEi had hoped. This performance was followed by “Waitin” before showing the next VCR clip. In this clip, each member had the other members guess facts about them. This was a fun way to also give fans tidbits about their habits, likes, and daily lives.
WEi appeared back on stage to perform “Twilight” with new outfits. Their next performance was more fun and filled with a lot of fan service. The members took Rui’s phones to take personal pictures or videos as they sang “Bad Night”. They unfortunately told fans that it was then time to go. Each member described how they felt; Especially because they started in LA last tour but this time they’re ending in LA. Also, there was a fan in the audience who screamed so high that the members nicknamed her dolphin. After a quick laugh, they also mentioned that they remember that fan being here during the last tour.
Encore
They performed the song “Too Bad” which is fun and energetic before running off stage again. WEi really said good bye but instead a VCR clip began where they did a relay interview. WEi came back out in new outfits for the song “Special Holiday”. During this set, they took fan gifts such as banners, plushies, headbands, glasses, etc to adorn themselves. This time they said it was really their time to say goodbye and end their Passion tour. They made a promise with the audience that they’ll be back with member Yohan and that they’re making a comeback soon! According to WEi, their comeback song is supposed to make them look very hot and asked for everyone’s support.
Before their past song, the members practiced fan chants with those in attendance. They said if they aren’t satisfied, they’ll literally go hide behind the curtains. The show ended with the song “Bye Bye Bye” before the curtains really closed.
Check out WEi next time they’re in a city near you!
